Michael James Smith, 53, passed away on January 28th with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike worked for thirty plus years at the Cook County Recycling Center where he loved interacting with the community and meeting people.

A life well lived, he will be deeply missed by family and friends. Byron was born in Biwabik, MN, to Arthur and Jennie Moren on November 18, 1927. At the age of 7, after the loss of his father, his family relocated to Virginia, MN, where he attended school with his younger brother and sister, Thomas and Margaret.
