Spell Freedom Matters
I am rarely gobsmacked, but reading Spell Matters did it. Born in 1941. I reached political awareness in the late 1950’s just as the demands for Civil Rights was growing across the South. Like so many of white northerners, I watched as the U.S. Supreme Court overturned “Separate but Equal” but left enforcement to “all deliberate speed.”
Seniors in Cook County
In April 2025 the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), with 39 million members, identified Arrowhead’s seven counties as friendly to seniors. AARP noted that seniors’ top priorities are housing, access to healthcare, and transportation.
