Where have all the flowers gone
I had this song in my head. I whistled it through this morning at work. Whistling is important to me. I get that from my great-grandfather, who blew nothing but air and an unknown tune. I used to do that too. But now, after half a century of making it important and practicing, I'm fairly fair.
A correction needed
An article published last week regarding Dean Berglund who is running for 4th District Commissioner, mentioned that he sits on the Board of the Cook County Coalition of Lake Associations and that he is the President of the Devil Track Lake Association. Neither of these are true. I have been the CCCoLA Chair for the past 2 years and been a member for 3. Dean hasn’t attended a CCCoLA meeting or been on the Board during this time. Our minutes, published on our website, indicate that he attended 1 meeting in 2019, but there is no further record of his participation in our organization. Jerry Wilkes is the Devil Track Lake Association President and represents the DTLA on the CCCoLA Board.

Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of the founders of NATO, which had supreme military command. I am reminded that Eisenhower had chief command of the Allied Forces during W.W. ll and that later, he became the 34th U.S. president (1953-61).

Fall Foraging, part 2 This week, we continue with fall foraging! Autumn is a wonderful and ideal time to harvest berries, roots, and mushrooms – all of which are highlighted this week. Although this is a beautiful time of year to bring in nature’s harvest, it can almost feel like an intricate dance with the weather to determine when the plants are optimally ripe, and yet avoid frosts and other eager animals.
