Vikings fall to McGregor, beat Hill City

The Cook County boys’ basketball team traveled to Hill City on Monday, Feb. 12 and to face the Hill City Hornets and came away with an impressive 68-55 victory.
The wolf is coming I suppose there are logically two ways to work the woods. One is where you hike forward for your allotted distance or time or to your goal, and, turning 180°, come out on your own track, your own trail, the path you just traversed.
With Cook County not boasting a girls' varsity basketball team this year it has fallen on the Junior Varsity to rebuild the program. Despite fielding an 0-5 record, Vikings Head Coach Levi Libra likes what he has seen so far.
It might be time to expand the trophy case at the high school. The boys' and girls' ski teams have been substantially adding to it this season.
On Monday, February 1, the Vikings traveled to play the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers and lost 87-59. The Vikings were down 44-31 at the half and never mounted a comeback, getting outscored 43-28 over the second half of play.
The CCHS Junior Varsity played the Cromwell/Wright JV in Cromwell last Friday, and it was a barn burner as four players scored double figures. 'We last played Cromwell at home on December 15th, losing 51-46.,' said Head JV Coach Tia Parks.
BRIAN LARSEN The Cook County High School boys' varsity ski team remained unbeaten with a win at home last Monday, January 22, and continued that streak with a blowout win at Giant's Ridge for the Hibbing Invite on Friday, January 25. Skiing on their training grounds at Lutsen Mountains on Kookoo, the boys' varsity and junior varsity not only won but also swept the podium! Taking first through third places in the varsity races were Ray Dressely, Georgi Dimitrov second, and Graham Oberholtzer in third.
BRIAN LARSEN The Cook County Boys Vikings varsity basketball team fell to the Mesabi East Giants 62-49 on Tuesday, January 23, in a game played at Aurora. The Vikings were down 22-29 at the half and scored 27 over the second half of play but could not stop the Giants, who put in 33 second-half points.
