Darrin Christianson

Darrin Olin Christianson beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short battle with esophageal cancer on April 29, 2025.
Darrin was born to Dennis Christianson and Lowella (Konu) Christianson on December 1, 1969, in Aurora Minnesota.
Darrin graduated from Biwabik High School in 1988. In 2007 he earned his LPN degree from Mesabi Range College. He worked at Aurora Drug as a Pharmacy Technician until they closed its doors. Darrin and his family moved to Grand Marais in 2018 where he worked at Gene’s IGA for a few years and the last couple at Isak Hansen Home and Hardware. He was a “Jack of all trades and master of none”.
Darrin enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, enjoying fires, and garage get togethers. Darrin spent a lot of time in the woods whether it was hunting or cutting down trees for firewood with his Great Dane Bones. He could never sit still for too long. Anytime there was an opportunity to make or fix something, he did it himself. The most important thing in his life was his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Lowella Christianson, brother- in-law Gary Wright, and father-in-law Howard McKenzie.
Darrin is survived by his wife Karen, of 26 years. Son Joshua Christianson-Petersen, daughters McKenzie Christianson, Madison Christianson, granddaughter Azaria Christianson-Petersen. Siblings Dennis Christianson (Kim), Devin Christianson, Lynette (Daniel) Hanson, Lorena Wright (Dave), sister-in-law Jennifer (Jarid) Lashinski, mother- in- law Jacqueline McKenzie, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life on May 31, 2025, at the family’s residence in Grand Marais from 1-3.
