It is with heavy hearts, we share that Deborah “Deb” Ann (Ziesmer) Nied, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Her body failed but her heart and spirit remained strong until the end. She was born October 24, 1953 in Braham, MN. She resided in Grand Marais, MN and St. Cloud, MN. In her later retirement years, she divided her time between Big Lake, MN and Reno, NV.

Deb graduated from Cook County High School, Grand Marais, MN. She attended St. Cloud State University and graduated from St. Cloud Business College. Deb worked in the administrative office of the St. Cloud School District and was later employed as a courier by Quest Diagnostics.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Fred and Esther Harder and Adolph and Martha Ziesmer; parents Donald and Barbara Ziesmer; sisters Cathryne and Kendall Ziesmer; and husband Dale Nied. She is survived by her daughter Anna (Tim) Fuller, Reno, NV, son Joe Nied (Saundra Riha), Big Lake, MN, sister JoAnn (Paul) Gunderson, Elk River, MN, and extended family members.

Deb enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbors. She took pride in her home and gardens and enjoyed music, reading, sewing, her grandfurs, cooking, baking, and Sudoku. She had a feisty spirit and also enjoyed a bit of whimsy, including her butler Tobias, garden gnomes, and pink flamingos.

Deb faced life’s challenges with a strong sense of faith, determination, and courage.

A celebration of life will be held in MN in Spring 2024.
