Thompson (Drew Holmen) was one of the most notorious characters of the UMD College Writing evening presentations. Successful despite himself, known for inventing gonzo journalism (becoming part of the story), Holmen evaded questions to his Thompson character about his use of alcohol and illegal drugs, and acknowledged that publishers found him difficult to work with. “Deadlines have never been my strong suit,” replied Thompson/Holmen.
