This photo was taken in 1938 downtown Grand Marais after an ice storm. “It looks like the streets really got soaked, and we can understand where the “Marais” (Marsh) name comes from! I wish we knew who these people in the photo are—they are clearly helping to bail out the streets! I love the 'Hamm's Beer' sign and these rustic 'old-timers'!!!
