Judith Karen Bursack

Judith Karen Bursack (Judy), 86 years, passed away peacefully on February 11th in Duluth, MN. She was born on August 4th and grew up in Squaw Lake, MN. Judy Schirmer graduated from Black Duck High School in 1955. She attended college in Bemidji for one year before marrying John Bursack on August 31st, 1957. They made their home in Richfield, MN then returned to Northome in 1958 and had their first child, Michael. In 1962, they moved to the north shore. Kristin and Jack joined the family several years later and they raised their family in Schroeder, MN. Judy enjoyed many years bowling, playing volleyball, sewing and baking. She was an avid reader. She was primarily a homemaker but in 1985, she started working for the Grand Marais State Bank in Tofte. In 1998, Judy and John sold their home in Schroeder so they could enjoy their winters in Palmetto, Florida. During the summer, they would return to their beloved little cabin on the lake at Lamb’s Resort. They moved back to Northome in 2006 and enjoyed many great years with their childhood friends. In November 2018, they moved to Duluth, MN to live near their children.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John, her parents, William and Helmy, sisters, Barbara and Kathleen, John’s parents and sisters, sister’s in-law, brother’s in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her children, Mike, Kristin (Paul), Jack (Mia), eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
Judy loved God, and had a strong faith. She looked forward to reuniting with John, her family and the friends that were called home before her.
A celebration of life will be held on March 2nd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Duluth, MN. Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m.. A lunch and fellowship will follow the 12 p.m. service.
