KAARE FABER

Kaare Olav Faber (87) passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024 after a 9 month illness that confined him to St. Therese care facility in New Hope, MN. Kaare was a long-time resident of Minnetonka, MN. He was born on January 13, 1937 in Oslo, Norway. His passion for learning led him to attend university at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in 1957. Upon graduation he moved to Minneapolis where he began his career as a Mechanical Engineer. He rose over the years to the position of Partner and director of Mechanical Engineering at Setter, Leach & Lindstrom, later, Leo A. Daly.
Kaare met the love of his life and future wife, Helen Hall, at a party hosted by a mutual friend. They were married on December 28, 1960 in Lutsen, MN. Together they raised a family, spent time on his boat, enjoyed winters skiing, and traveled the world together. One of his biggest joys was spending time on the North Shore. Fulfilling a dream he became a US citizen in May of 1965, and was always very proud to be an American. Kaare was always up for an evening out with his family and friends. Nobody loved a good steak house and a perfect Manhattan on the rocks with “a couple three olives” like he did.
Kaare is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Faber, his daughter Karin Faber, son Harald Faber (Boyd Savage), and granddaughter Juliette. He also leaves behind 9 cherished nieces and nephews, Inger, Asbjørn, Per, Diana, Anna, Cheryl, Hans, Sylvia, and Peter. Kaare was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Astrid Faber of Oslo, Norway, his brothers Hans Flod, Arne Flod, wife Ebba, and sister Aase Aaheim, husband Bjørn and his nephew Jan Flod.
