Kathryn Amy Stoltz

August 9,1941-October 8, 2025

Kathryn Stoltz, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025 at the Gardens at Episcopal Homes in Saint Paul, MN following a decline from Parkinson’s and cancer.

Preceded in death by husband of 45 years, George Stoltz, parents Edward and Amy Humphrey, brother Charlie Humphrey and nephews Ben Cervenka, Scott Humphrey and Bailey Humphrey.

Survived by daughters Julie Stoltz and Jennifer Stoltz (Courtney Johnson), grandchild Ian Bromander (Dylan), siblings Anne Cervenka (Tom Cohenour), George Humphrey (Cheryl), Mary Cameron. Kathy is also survived by nieces and their families.

Kathy was born and grew up in Grand Marais, MN and maintained a strong connection to the town until the end. She and George raised their family in Grand Marais, Duluth and Virginia, MN before retiring on Devil Track Lake near Grand Marais. They enjoyed winters together in Placida, FL. She studied at the School of Associated Arts and UMD. She was active in Junior League and owned the Country Peddler gift shop while in Virginia. She moved to Mendota Heights in 2010 where she loved to dote on and share quips with her grandchild Ian. She was thrilled when Ian met and married Dylan who she adored.

Kathy was an artist known for her water colors, cards and applique quilts. She also loved to play bridge. She cherished spring break trips with family and was a gracious host. Kathy’s happy place was by the water – sunsets on Siesta Key, looking for rocks by Grand Marais’ East Bay, on a pontoon on Devil Track Lake or just watching the boats and birds while sipping wine on the City House patio.

Kathy had a quick wit and shared zingers til the end with family, friends and the amazing caregivers at The Gardens.

A memorial service was held on October 17th in Coventry Chapel at Episcopal Homes in St Paul. Memorials preferred to Vital North Foundation, Episcopal Homes or Cook County Historical Society.
