MARILYN SCOTT

MARILYN SCOTT

Marilyn Scott, 77, died on the 12th of July 2025 at her home in Crane Lake, MN after navigating a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her celebration of life will take place on Friday, July 25th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Angora, MN, at 9:00am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Marilyn was born on the 30th of September 1948 in Virginia, MN to Olaf and Dorris Hokkanen. She graduated from Cook High School and shortly after was married to Robert Scott of Crane Lake. They gave birth to three kids, Julia, Robert, and Anna. Marilyn and Robert moved around the country many times during Robert’s Navy career. When stationed in Florida, Marilyn became a Registered Nurse at the University of Jacksonville Nursing school. She had a long successful career in various hospitals across the country, primarily as a special care nurse. Throughout their Navy career time, Marilyn was known for going above and beyond as a Navy wife in the service of others. In their various stations, she frequently assisted families with homemade food and support. Following Robert’s retirement, they settled in Crane Lake where they continued to run the family business, Scott’s Peaceful Valley Resort.
All who knew her speak of her kindness and generosity toward others. Marilyn was a stranger to no one, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She will be missed but leaves behind a legacy of love. She loved the quote, “Make the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Doris Hokkanen, and her sisters Kim and Glinda. She is survived by her husband, Robert Scott, her children Julia, Robert, and Anna, her grandchildren Shelby and Nicholas, her great grandchildren Liliana and Benjamin, her sisters Twila and Carolyn, and her brothers Jerry and John.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Angora, MN in her name. Condolences to mlakerfuneralhome.com.
