Max Asche

In Honor of Max Asche September 12, 1992 – October 16, 2023
It is with heartache that we share the unexpected passing of our muchloved Max. Max left us on October 16th, 2023.
Max lived his life in Cook County, Minnesota, and attended Birch Grove Elementary and Cook County High School. Max was a valued employee and respected co-worker for many years at Lutsen Mountain Ski Hill. He may have been the only person who genuinely enjoyed the snow-making night shift. He recently took a new job where he was enjoying learning new skills and meeting new people.
Max loved and was most at home in the outdoors. That love was shared
with his partner and soulmate Misha Nelson, and together they explored the trails and waterways of Cook County with their enthusiastic pup, Mylah. Max’s other passions included spending time with friends, snowboarding, music festivals, and traveling.
Max was a kind and loving man with his friends, family, and strangers he just met. He cherished his friendships and was always happy to lend a hand and help out. He led a rich life filled with fun, love, laughs, friends, and adventures.
Max will be forever loved and deeply missed by his beloved partner Misha Nelson, his parents Steven Asche (Anita), Danna MacKenzie (Jack), grandfather and grandmother Dan and Barb MacKenzie, Aunt Gretchen Hersch, Uncle Tim and Aunt Pat Asche, Aunt Lisa MacKenzie (Brad), his friend Grace Nelson, who was the sister he never had, and his exuberant, four-legged sidekick, Mylah, as well as many cousins, friends, and coworkers. Max is pre-deceased by grandparents Pamela Coleman, John and Susan Asche, and his uncle Jon Hersch.
Friends and family are invited to a gathering in honor of Max on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, at the Lutsen Summit Chalet at Lutsen Mountains, from 1:00-4:00 pm. The gondola will be open between 12:30 and 1:30 to transport all those who wish to join us in honoring Max, and will be re-opened after the gathering. A short reflection and time of remembering will take place at 2 pm, and all are invited to join family and friends for a light buffet and sharing of stories, tears, laughter, and hugs.
In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Max to Go Dog North Shore (The Grand Marais Dog Park) www.godognorthshore. org online or by check to Go Dog North Shore, 781 5th Ave. W. Grand Marais, MN 55604 or to The Arrowhead Animal Rescue AAR, PO Box 1274, Grand Marais, MN 55604 animals@boreal.org
