Last week the rare blue Supermoon filled the sky above the harbor. Supermoons occur when the moons orbit is closer to the earth than normal. According to Dave Teske, lunar topographic studies coordinator for the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers, supermoons appear abut 8 percent larger than a normal full moon and 15 percent brighter that a normal full moon.
