Rex M. Kastner, 67, formerly of rural Bovey, died Saturday, December 23, 2023, in Northwood Villa Assisted Living, Coleraine, surrounded by his family.

Born April 16, 1956, in St. Paul, MN, he was the son of Robert and Carolyn (Hawkes) Kastner. Rex was a 1974 graduate of Grand Rapids High School, attended Itasca Community College, and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1988. Rex and Melanie Orhn were married on September 19, 1998, at the Joyce Estate in rural Bovey.

His parents Robert and Carolyn Kastner and his father-in-law Duane Orhn preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie; his daughter, Ashley (Alan Kemmer) Kastner; son Zach (Sarah) Still; grandsons, Colton Kastner, Oslo and Aero Still; sister, Kristine (Ed) Hedstrom; mother-in-law, Margie Orhn; sister-in-law, Lori (Greg) Burau; brothers- in-law Scott (Chris) Orhn, Gary (Lisa) Orhn, and Jessie Luoma.
