There have been quite a few sightings of boreal owls in the county this winter, which means they must be hungry enough to leave their habitat in northern Canada's forests. This is called an 'interruption' when birds leave their typical habitat to seek food elsewhere. Boreal owls dine mostly on voles, mice, shrews, and small birds.
