Virginia Ann Tilbury, age 91 of Duluth, Minnesota passed away Monday October 7, 2024 at Edgewood Memory care.

She was born in Minneapolis and grew up in Marcell, Minnesota. Virginia was working as a switchboard operator or as they were commonly called a cable girl for American Bell telephone in the 1950s. Virginia manually connected phone calls by inserting a pair of phone plugs into appropriate jacks.

It was during this time she met the love of her life, Verl J. Tilbury who was serving in the military as an infantry man. They married and would move to Hovland, and later Grand Marais, where they raised their three children Susan, Steven, and Donna.

Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother of seven and great grandmother to thirteen children, and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verl.

No services will be held at this time. Internment will be private in Backus Evergreen Cemetery.
