Donna Lunke and Jerry Kohl were nominated for the Norman Deschampe Award that was presented at the 2024 , 13th annual Fall Gala with Donna Lunke winning. The Gala was sponsored by the Cook County Chamber of Commerce and Visit Cook County and held at the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino on Thursday, Oct. 24. Much loved and well respected, Norman Deschampe served as the tribal chairman of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa for 27 years. He passed away on Feb. 9, 2019 at age 65.
