“We have had a small flock of Dark-eyed Juncos that are still scratching around on the ground in our snowless Lutsen yard,”said Jean Brislance. “Among them was this lone 'Oregon' subspecies of the Dark-eyed Junco, a western variety that occasionally trickles through our area. The '’Oregon’' has a brown back and sides which differentiates it from the 'slate-colored' juncos that are typical in our area. We enjoyed its presence, as the bird variety has been somewhat lacking so far this winter.” Photo courtesy of Jean Brislance
