On Monday, January 29, Jean Brislance wrote, “I stumbled upon a unique situation with several Ruffed Grouse today. There were four grouse finding food in the underbrush around a dead spruce tree, and this one was mad at them. He was performing a territorial display to try and chase the others off, but they were not budging. I have seen this behavior in the fall when grouse are dispersing and the males are establishing their territories, but I have never observed this in the middle of winter.
