The IRA supercharges the 2021 bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the 2022 bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, making critically important investments in America through upgrading our aging infrastructure, re-shoring our high-tech industry manufacturing, and investing in our clean energy economy. These laws focused on creating sustainable, union-based, prevailing- wage American jobs and apprenticeships, supporting the future of our families and communities.

Nirmala Rajasekar is one of the premier Saraswathi veena players in the world today. A dynamic and vibrant musician, she has performed in many leading venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall and the United Nations. An established vocalist and wellknown composer, Nirmala is seen internationally as a “Carnatic Ambassador” and leader in forging new paths on the Saraswathi veena. She will be in Grand Marais on September 23 performing at 7 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (ACA).

IRRRB awards $7.4 million in economic development funding

On Wednesday, August 9, the Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Board awarded approximately $3.1 million in loans, $3 million in infrastructure grants, $700,000 in trails grants and $630,000 in higher education grants were approved to advance projects in northeastern Minnesota. Agency total investment for all projects combined is approximately $7.4 million. Total project investment is approximately $87 million. The projects are expected to increase the regional tax base, retain and create new jobs, provide essential services, increase the housing inventory, expand outdoor recreation and enhance higher education. The loans are anticipated to impact 178 jobs. The infrastructure projects are projected to impact 22 jobs and create 169 construction jobs.
