Every five years, the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Planning (CHIP) require local public health agencies under the Minnesota State Statute to complete a plan. Cook County completed a draft of its 20232028 CHA and hosted a June meeting to gather community feedback on the report.
Thunder Bay Pickleball Club and Grand Marais Pickleball Club are excited to announce the second annual international pickleball tournament and recreational play day for players from the North Shore (Duluth - Thunder Bay). The annual Fisherman’s Picnic alumni baseball game was a back-and-forth affair with the “kids” beating the alumni 12-11. Hunter Gomez had four hits and three RBIs to lead the way for the Sr Legion team.
North Shore Health Care was one of several regional care facilities to receive first round direct payments from the State of Minnesota. The money was issued to help financially stabilize local care centers and hospitals.
Memories of the Minnesota River mudflats Towards the end of summer there was a place in the river bottoms that all the kids from all the high schools in the cities seemed to know. It was a place in the Mississippi River bottoms in the cities, although few but me of the others knew that it was not the Mississippi, but the Minnesota River, because I paid attention to such things, and if you were young then all you knew was the airport and the great airplane runways over the river, and maybe Interstate 494, possibly Cedar Avenue.
