Local Animal Adoption Event with Arrowhead Animal Rescue

It has been a busy spring and summer at Arrowhead Animal Rescue! In total, Arrowhead Animal Rescue of Cook County is currently fostering ten adult cats, ten kittens, and two dogs across multiple foster homes. To provide an opportunity for community members to meet these adoptable animals, AAR is hosting an Adoption Event on Saturday, October 14th from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hub. In addition to the animals AAR is currently fostering, we anticipate that several additional cats and kittens will join us at the event, all of which are in need of safe and loving homes. All in all, there is an abundance of local rescued animals available for adoption!

Exploring Graphic Memoir

Legacy Tour with Minnesota Writer/Artist Lynn Von Sien at the Grand Marais Public Library Discover the rich and diverse history of Graphic Memoir with the Grand Marais Public Library on Wednesday, October 18th at 6 p.m. Minnesota writer and artist Lynn Von Sien, a 2023 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, will facilitate the workshop.

Fall may be here, but the Grand Marais Garden Club continues to garden!

Fall is definitely in the air, but the Grand Marais Garden Club will continue to meet, with our next gatherings set for October 9th and November 13th, at 10 a.m. each day at St. John's Catholic Church, 10 5th Street. There is ample parking just outside the meeting room on the lower level, as well as on the street and in the upperlevel parking lot.

New Community Group brings movie theater experience to Grand Marais

Starting this October, a group of volunteers will be working to launch the Grand Marais Film Society, with the goal of providing affordable and memorable movie theater experiences for the community. “I’ve loved going to the movies since I was a little,” said Lynnea Morse, one of the volunteers behind the film society, “and I’ve missed it since moving up here almost 6 years ago.

Auditions for high school and adult actors for Holiday play are being held October 16

The Grand Maris Playhouse is holding auditions for Ken Ludwigs hilarious one act comedy, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.' Five actors play multiple roles in this face paced romp where a mouse, a young Girl, and an elf set out to save Christmas. “A momentum and ebullience worthy of the Pixar era animate this world-premiere play, whose story line involves a heist, a duel with rapiers, some hip-hop, a squirt gun, a perilous airplane flight and an elf ’s stint as a secret agent.” - The Washington Post Community Members High School age to adult are invited to audition.
