Pet adoption for rescue animals was a success!

Arrowhead Animal Rescue (ARR) held a pet adoption for rescue cats, kittens, and two dogs last Saturday at the Hub Senior Center in Grand Marais. While the dogs weren't on hand, quite a few sweet kittens and older cats were available to see, hold, and pet. The adoption process takes a few days, so no cats or kittens left with new owners on Saturday. That said, quite a few applications were filled out, so many people will soon have a furry new friend living with them.

Ode to the Leaf Licker

As we bid adieu to our visitors viewing the fall leaf-changing season, I would like to take the time to extol the benefits of being a “leaf licker”. I am a self-professed “leaf licker,” defined as someone who deeply appreciates nature, especially trees and plants. This term suggests that the person is so enthusiastic about the outdoors that they might figuratively lick leaves or immerse themselves in nature to connect with it.

Down Memory Lane

20 YEARS AGO SEPTEMBER 19, 2003 v Wish lists and harbor maps were unfolded at the Safe Harbor Advisory Committee meeting on Monday as members continued discussions about the possibility of developing a full-service marina in the Grand Marais harbor. Any development of a safe harbor and/or marina will require months, if not years, of work as well as the go-ahead by the city council, the U.S.
