“Yoga is so much more than the physical movements, poses, and flows. It is so much more than meditation and breathwork. In the […] ancient yogic traditions, it would be laughable to think someone could really learn, practice, and teach yoga in just a year's time… what we have predominantly today is a modernized version. This quick fix transformation of an ancient art and philosophy has happened with much more than just yoga. In the modern world, we tend to rush through the day and all of our actions / interactions. Even when we know there is something else more or needed for a wholesome life, rarely do we take the time to bask in it or practice the mindfulness needed to integrate into the everyday.

10 YEARS AGO APRIL 19, 2014 v The Cook County Knowledge Bowl team traveled to the State Knowledge Bowl Tournament on Thursday, April 10, to face off with teams from around the region at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd. Coach April Wahlstrom was delighted with her team’s ninth-place finish at the state competition.

Applications for Health Care Foundation Grants Due May 1

Applications for the first round of 2024 North Shore Health Care Foundation (NSHCF) Community Health Grants, are due by 4 pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The North Shore Health Care Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit now celebrating its 31st year in Cook County, works to address gaps in health care and community health-related needs locally. The Foundation will award approximately $30,000 this year, to community organizations and programs that contribute to equitable health care and healthy living in Cook County through its semi-annual grant program. The deadline for the second and final round of 2024 NSHCF grant funding is Oct. 1.
