Nancie Deming, Cook County Licensing Case Manager and Community Childcare Coordinator joined counties across the nation in Maricopa County, AZ for an invite-only joint convening of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Counties for Career Success cohort and Prenatal-to-Three County Leaders Academy. The event brought together a diverse group of county leaders to collaborate on solutions for career readiness and economic mobility for families with young children, grounded in the robust role of counties in removing barriers for families and connecting residents to good jobs.
Last week, an accessible dock—principally for sea kayaks—was installed at the Grand Marais Rec Park Parkside public water access. Park Manager Dave Tersteeg explained, 'The term “accessible” refers to a gangway and dock designed to serve the adaptive paddling community and promote universal, barrier-free access.

10 YEARS AGO MAY 14, 2004 v The Cook County commissioners elected to pass on a vote for or against the proposed county subdivision ordinance when it came before them for its second public hearing May 11. Instead, a committee of commissioners, attorneys, Realtors and zoning officials must first go over the document and revise it before it can come back to the county board for a vote.
