As Minnesotans deal with the heat and humidity this summer, Animal Humane Society is sharing tips for keeping your pets safe, cool, and comfortable: On hot days, leave your pet inside with the air conditioning on. If you are outside with your dog, ensure they have access to plenty of shade and fresh water in a tip-proof bowl.

The long summer evening ends at dark, and our rough ritual is to do our business, I take my meds, set the alarm, me maybe reading or writing by a battery-operated reading light, Foxy tapped out finally under the bed, Daphne jumps up on the bed and gets snout-to-nose with me, and then me thinking and whispering and listening in the dark.

Invasive plants can be quite the contentious topic and we all have our own views and experiences with them. This week, however, I invite you to maybe consider things from a different viewpoint. What if invasive plants are not “bad,” but simply misunderstood? Many of these “invasives” can be used as a food and are medicine for us humans and the earth. How can we even define what is invasive? No matter your final opinion, I hope that maybe this piece can help you to pull the Dandelions with a bit more curiosity and kindness, even if they do not end up on your dinner plate.
