County Board holds busy meeting

The Cook County Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 11 with Ann Sullivan, Deb White, and Ginnie Storlie present, while David Mills and Stacey Johnson were absent. EDA 2025 Budget request While no board action was taken, the commissioners received a breakdown of the Cook County EDA’s 2025 budget of $519,880.04, up from the 2024 request of $490,720.

Klobuchar, Stauber Introduce Legislation to Improve Mail Delivery in Northern Minnesota

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Representative Pete Stauber (R-MN) announced the introduction of the Rural Mail Delivery Improvement Act. This legislation would require the United States Postal Service (USPS) to implement all of the recommendations made by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) following theiraudit of the Bemidji Post Office, which uncovered operational problems at the facility.

Minnesota DNR North Shore Fishing Report

Lower Shore: Duluth to Two Harbors Surface water temperatures near Duluth were in the low 50’s this week thanks to the St. Louis River inputting warmer water. Fishing near Duluth was good for Lake Trout using stick baits in the top 20 feet of the water column, trolling between 2-3 mph. Targeting the edges of the stained water and temperature breaks was the most effective strategy to get on fish.
