Library closed for safety reasons

Grand Marais Library Director Amanda St. John issued a short press release on Wednesday, June 12 stating, 'Grand Marais Public Library will be closed from Wednesday, June 12, 2024, through Saturday, June 15, 2024, for staff wellness and to implement new safety measures. Library Director Amanda St. John explained, 'Our staff needs time to adjust to updated safety protocols following recent events.' We plan to reopen on Monday, June 16th, at 10 AM. Thank you for your understanding. ' Last week one of the librarians received death threats from a local man on a Facebook post. Local authorities were contacted but no arrest was made.

Grand Marais Library Presents ‘Portrait of the Artist as a Young Gay Man’

A free, live performance featuring Patrick Scully Joining the community’s month-long celebration of LGBTQIA2+ Pride, Grand Marais Public Library presents Patrick Scully in a solo theatrical performance of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Gay Man. Taking place at the library on June 21, 2024, the event is free and open to the public.

“On Thursday morning while on my way to the Trestle Inn for a lunch with friends, I encountered this Moose blocking the road.
