Tuscarora/Hungry Jack Outfitters Combo takes Trail Cup Prize at 2024 Gunflint Trail Canoe Races for Second Year

With a brisk wind off the lake the bugs stayed away, but the racers and watchers came out in great numbers. Several hundred friends, neighbors and guests on the Gunflint Trail were at Gunflint Lodge on the shore of Gunflint Lake on July 17th for the 2024 Gunflint Trail Canoe Races.

Minnesota DNR announces new scientific and natural area in Cook County

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, with help from Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and Reinvest in Minnesota, recently acquired and designated 25 acres in Cook County as the new Icelandite Coastal Fen Scientific and Natural Area. This new SNA has very old and rare geologic and wetland features that provide a unique experience for visitors of any interest.

Joyanne Parker plans return visit to Silver Bay’s city center stage on August 2

nd Rocky Wall Productions is pleased to announce that Joyanne Parker and her band will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26th at City Center Park in downtown Silver Bay as part of the Silver Bay Music in the Park - Free Live Music Concert Series. “Parker has been tagged as a blues and rhythmand- blues singer, but her music is so much more and is best described by the broader Americana label. Bear hunters: remember to buy license, check regulations

Bear hunters who enter the lottery for bear hunting licenses should watch their mail to see if they were selected for a license, as the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has mailed postcards to lottery winners. Hunters can also look on the Minnesota DNR website to see if they were selected. The deadline to purchase a lottery bear license is Thursday, Aug. 1.
