Time to order WISE “Buffet in a Box”

The Fisherman’s Picnic annual celebration of North Shore summer life is Aug. 1-4 this year, but it starts early with the best: food, of course! And the Cook County WISE group (Women’s Initiative for Service and Education) is ready to celebrate. DNR proposes selling 80,000 acres of school trust lands in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to the U.S. Forest Service to benefit Minnesota’s public schools

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Minnesota Office of School Trust Lands, and the U.S. Forest Service - Superior National Forest are working together on a strategy to transfer approximately 80,000 acres of school trust lands within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to federal ownership.

Charles Nelson

Charles Ernest Nelson, 93, of Lutsen, died Sunday, July 7, 2024 at North Shore Health. Charlie was born August 1, 1930 to Edwin and Rose (Matts) Nelson in Lutsen, where he was a lifelong resident.
