Local option sales tax and Transportation tax for October
The Cook County one percent local option sales tax for October was .3 percent higher than in October 2023. The tax brought in $296,347.28 this October compared to $295,363 last October.

Wacky winter weather
Winter arrived right on cue this year, with a sprinkle of snow in October and a good bit more in November. The amount wasn't quite as much as we initially thought, or was predicted, but it was enough to kick off the winter activities we all love. The temperatures dropped, the lakes froze over, and we were all set for some ice fishing and skating. And then, just when we thought we had it all figured out, the rain came.
