On Saturday, January 25, the snowmobile community gathered at Skyport Lodge & Raven Rock Grill for the inaugural event of a scintillating series of snowmobile drag races, a testament to the passion and dedication of the Cook County Snowmobile Club-Ridge Riders.
Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. More than twenty Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness enthusiasts gathered at a Leadership Retreat in Ely, MN, this past weekend. The event was the third annual, and the second held at Camp Widjiwagan on Burntside Lake, on the edge of the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) in northern Minnesota. The hosting organization was the Boundary Waters Advisory Committee (“BWAC”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that restores, maintains, and advocates for Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness trails.
