You're in Target, and your child asks you for a toy. You simply say, 'No, not today.' He tells you why, in a couple of words, he should have what he wants. You change your mind, relent, and get him the toy—were you wrong before?

Government waste?

Recently many members of the community at the end of county 70 in Hovland received letters from COOP L&P requesting easements to allow for installation of electrical lines and broadband service. The letters state that the COOP has received federal funds to expand broadband into remote areas and this area was on the list. The area in question has no full-time residents and is comprised of nothing but 3 season cabins. While I would expect and support broadband development where it is needed, I cannot fathom using federal $ to send power and fiber into an area that will see little if any use.

Gentlemen of the Woods, a book review
