WTIP Community Radio has announced the performance schedule for the 18th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival, September 5-7, 2025, which takes place at Sweetheart’s Bluff in the Grand Marais Recreation Area.
Grand Portage sets all-time air quality alert
It’s not the record one wants to set. Yet, on June 3 at 2 a.m., the air quality reading issued by the Minnesota Air Quality Index (AQI) for Grand Portage set an unprecedented Minnesota record for hourly concentrations of fine particle pollution at 800. This surpasses the previous record set on July 29, 2021, in St. Cloud at a 692 AQI. On July 4, 2020, at 10 p.m., a 657 AQI was recorded in Minneapolis, the result of smoke from personal fireworks after a municipal fireworks display.
County Board Seeks Public Feedback Following County Administrator Candidate Interviews
The Cook County Board will conduct interviews with their top four candidates for the County Administrator position starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025. Approximately one hour has been allotted for each interview. The interviews will take place in the Commissioners Board Room in the County Courthouse. The public is welcome to attend and observe.

Irene Anna (Allen) Peterson passed away peacefully at the age of 104 on Wednesday May 28, 2025, at North Shore Living.

Nancy Lindquist
Nancy Ellen Lindquist (née Gunderson), died peacefully at her home in Saddlebrooke Arizona on May 27th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She was 91 years old.
