The Citizen of the Year award is for an individual or couple whose volunteerism and service to the community has made Cook County a better place to live. In choosing a recipient, consideration will be given to the nominee’s past and on-going contributions to the community. A nominee only needs to be nominated once to be considered.

COOK COUNTY COMMUNITY FUND ANNOUNCES 2025 GRANT RECIPIENTS
Fifteen deserving non-profit organizations are awarded a total of $56,199 in grants for projects to strengthen the Cook County community.
Kristen Trebil-Halbersma is hired as the new Cook County Administrator
During a special board meeting on June 30, the Cook County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to hire Kristen Trebil-Halbersma to become the new Cook County Administrator.
EDA Director resigns
Heidi Kampitz, Director of the Cook County and Grand Marais Economic Development Authority (EDA), submitted her resignation to the EDA board on June 19.
