Lutsen Township monthly meeting highlights

The Lutsen Township Board met on August 19 at the Lutsen Town Hall and heard a report from Fire and EMS Chief Steve Duclos. Steve said that the EMS had responded to eight calls, the Fire Department had responded to five calls, and there was one search and rescue call in the last month. Training included learning how and when to use Narcan and EpiPens, responding to behavioral crises, and alpine bistro and rope training.

David “Omar” Stern Sommers

David “Omar” Stern Sommers, age 88, passed away on August 1 after a recent cancer diagnosis. An Edina High class of ’54 and U of MN grad, he was an avid, lifelong fisherman with a great sense of adventure. He had deep appreciation for the great outdoors and its beauty ~ relished exploring, hiking, and canoeing. He loved Lake Superior’s North Shore, and traveling to off-thebeaten- path locales, especially in Mexico, and loved playing pickleball well into his 80’s. He was intelligent, free~spirited and courageous, with a great sense of humor. Preceded by parents Clifford and Beverly, daughter Mona, Marlene Sommers, wife Barbara, and Chuck Andrews. Survived by daughters Lynn and Elizabeth, lady friend Joanne, sisters Meredith (Jay), Linda (Eric), and Jane.
