On September 19 The Heights, Bluffs formally opened for leasing in Grand Marais. The Heights, Bluffs is a 36-unit multi-family rental housing building on the west edge of the city. Apartments include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units ranging from 427 to 840 sq. ft.


Playing in front of a large home crowd on Monday, Sept. 15, the CCHS girl’s volleyball team beat the Northeast Range Knights 3-1.

Although the ELCA has had a church in Hovland since 1909, the iconic church building the congregation calls home was dedicated in 1950, marking this as the 75th year it has housed ELCA members for worship services, weddings, funerals, and other events.

This past week, a plethora of plein air painters could be seen honing their craft in and around town. On Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a quick paint competition was held on Artist Point and the shoreline around the Coast Guard Station to honor Birney Quick, one of the founders of the Grand Marais Art Colony.
