Cook County is MCIT’s Named County of the Year

The Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust Board Chair announced the MCIT County of the Year recipient last week at their annual meeting in Bloomington, Minnesota. That annual meeting is held each year in conjunction with the Association of Minnesota Counties Annual Conference. MCIT is a risk-sharing pool dedicated to providing coverage and risk management services for its members, all of Minnesota's 87 counties and associated public entities. MCIT is a joint powers entity established in 1979 pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 471.59 and 471.981.

Several conditions must be met before trails are open, groomed and ready for travel: The ground must be frozen. Where trails cross wetlands, 15 inches of ice are needed to support the weight of trail groomers.
