Rhonda Rae (Bockovich) Silence died at home on Saturday, August 16, 2025 after decades of living with blood cancer.
At Cook County High School, the fall sports season is in full swing, offering a diverse range of activities. From cross-country meets to volleyball and football games, there’s something for everyone to watch and enjoy.
The Pincushion Mountain trails, known for their rugged terrain and steep inclines, were once again the site of the Grand Marais Lions Club Fisherman’s Picnic trail races, providing a challenging yet exhilarating experience for the participants.
Despite an early morning rain, the 2025 Grand Portage Pow Wow, held in conjunction with the Rendezvous Celebration, was a vibrant celebration of the Gran Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s cultural heritage.
Located on Forest Service Road 304, about nine miles up the Gunflint Trail, the Flintlock Sports Park shooting and archery range is now being developed. Jerry Kohl, Kali Hawkins, and Bill Dalin were working a booth during the Fisherman’s Picnic to raise awareness about this exciting project.
The July 2025 Lodging Tax Report from the Auditor’s Office for May 2025 collections. The Visit Cook County Income Study shows that May collections were down 8.9% over 2024 and Fiscal-Year-to-Date collections are up 4.64%. As compared to fiscal year 1920, May collections are up 40.3%.
