Writer explains why he backs Kamala Harris for President

A Republican friend asked, “How can you be 100% behind Biden last week and now be 100% behind Harris this week?” At first this question confused me, but I think the answer lies with that for many Republicans the choice of which candidate to vote for is based on the appeal of the one person who most boldly “takes strong and loud positions against those that believe differently than the voter” and most aggressively “advocates actions or threats to others that are threatening to the voter’s held values and concerns”. Maybe they seek someone to speak loudly and act aggressively addressing their fears, values and concerns. I can understand that, when I was a lot younger, I decided based on who I thought was the “best person”.

As I See It

Project 2025 is a 900+ page thorough blueprint by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation and a coalition of conservative groups for how in the first 180 days of a Trump administration they plan to fundamentally change our government and country by extending the powers of the executive branch and giving the president the powers of an autocrat. With such a plan the president can then issue orders that will take away the American values of: rule of law, separation of church and state and civil rights while slashing Medicare, social security, and veterans’ benefits.

Grand Marais Harbor was a vibrant scene last weekend, as the 12th annual North Shore Water Festival, hosted by Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply, drew a diverse crowd of water sports enthusiasts. Despite the occasional thunder and rain on Saturday, the event was a success, attracting a good turnout of people eager to try their hand at kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing.

Commissioners set timeline for Public Hearings to discuss a Cannabis Ordinance
