with Fly fishing for Steelhead The steelhead fishing fly which has come to be called the Intruder is a recent development from the past ten to fifteen years, developed on the great rivers of the steelhead's native lower US range – California, Oregon, and Washington - and the Great Lakes tributaries where steelhead have been introduced and now spawn and reproduce. With the Intruder, two important developments have come together: an oversized profile is created without creating a heavy, waterlogged fly; and a single stinger hook is strung behind a bare shank, at a distance that ensures the fly's long, undulating profile materials do not get fouled in the hook.
