To the Point, a new book by Tom Tofte

When seventeen-year-old Lori leaves her stepfather’s house, she decides to go to Decorah, Iowa, a city 50 miles away from her home, with little more than hope and no friends or family to help her. But then, sheltered and not allowed to attend school after her mother passed away years earlier, Lori is left with little choice but to escape from her terrible home life into a future she can’t imagine. Along the way, she is picked up by an older man who takes her to Decorah and throughout the book stays in contact with her. She is saved by a 23-yearold Cale, who sees her drowning in a pond.

The Heights receives approval to store housing units

At last week’s Cook County Board of Commissioner’s meeting the owners of The Heights, a three-story 36unit one or two bedroom apartment complex, asked the county board to send a memo to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and ask them to approve an interim use permit to store modular units on the lower county airport grounds.
