Work on the Overlook Landing is nearing completion

It's taken some time, but the work on the Overlook Landing is nearly completed. Workers have installed the rails for the steps and the upper deck section and finished the wooden arbor and metal art panels inspired by the late Ojibwe artist George Morrison.

Matters of Record

Conservation Officer Tales

Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. The News-Herald shares these stories as a reminder to all to be safe and to follow the rules!

Film Special at the Library

The Library partners with the Violence Prevention Center in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Grand Marais Public Library is partnering with the Violence Prevention Center to screen the film Women Talking on Friday, April 19, from 6:00-8:30 p.m.

Approximately $150 Million Available for Wildlife Habitat Projects

Council Seeks Funding Requests for Wide Variety of Programs that Restore, Protect and Enhance Minnesota Fish, Game and Wildlife Habitat The Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council (LSOHC) yesterday issued its annual Call for Funding Request from the Outdoor Heritage Fund. Approximately $150 million will be available for both metro and statewide grants to aid Minnesota habitat restoration, protection and enhancement.

Meet Cooper Wilson

Cooper is the son of Lance Wilson, Grand Marais, and Melody McClure, Ely, Minnesota. Since his earliest days, Cooper has been involved with racing Motocross.
