Wellness

Spring Allergies Part 2 Still battling springtime sniffles? There are just as many tools to help as there are people. Remember, every person is different, so what may work for one person may not for another.

REASON

April Fools’ Day A Hero’s Journey April 1st, a.k.a. April Fool's Day, is once again upon us.

God for the Doubters?

Because Pastor Enno is gone that day, I will be doing the sermon at First Congregational Church, UCC, on April 14th next; and I am mildly terrified. My last attempt to preach was a mostly easy talk about the importance of law to protect children. Before that I last tried to preach in 1964. Talk about unused muscles!

Outdoors

Every place has a place like this place I have this place that I go to near here, where in the spring the river is a river and it tries with all its force and wile and guile and tumult to flush the creek chubs and steelhead fries and steelhead smolt out to the great inland sea like some pod of goldfish flushed down the toilet. But this is a contest a myriad years old, and the little riverine fishes find cover from the current in the flooded bottoms, behind standing tree trunks, in the tuft grasses, in the flooded brush.

Down Memory Lane

10YEARS AGO MARCH 22, 2014 v While one mystery was solved, another mystery looms, but never may be solved. A necropsy performed by the pathologists at Colorado State Veterinary Diagnostic on “Isabelle” the lone grey wolf found dead on the shore of Lake Superior in Grand Portage, determined that a lightweight pellet shot from an air gun killed her.

Conservation Officer Tales

Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. The News-Herald shares these stories as a reminder to all to be safe and to follow the rules!

COUNTY CONNECTIONS

Veterans Day on the Hill For the past several years, Veterans Day on the Hill (VDOTH) has provided a means to demonstrate our strength as Veterans, families, and supporters of Veterans. VDOTH is open to all Veterans and supporters, and no membership in any organization is required.
