Resuming in the Spring of 2024, North Shore Superior Pest Management of Grand Marais, will be continuing its program for the treatment of “Cabin Site” White Spruce and Balsam Fir for Spruce Budworm. We will be expanding our service this year, adding another team of applicators.

The 2024 Cook County Nordic Ski Team's season culminated with three weeks of exciting skiing not just for our high school team, but also Minnesota and the U.S. Following our team's determined skiing (and cheering) at Sections in early February, the skiing roared forward with an unbeatable trio combination - the MN Nordic State Meet at Giant's Ridge, then two days of World Cup Nordic skiing in Minneapolis, and finally three days of the American Birkebeiner event in Cable, WI. Members of our Cross Country Ski team were present at all three!

Horsetail Lore & Medicine This time of year in late-winter and early- spring, my cabin fever begins to fall away and becomes replaced by an excited eagerness. Although I still require a jacket to go outside and it is generally wet and mucky, lacking any robust plant life, I want to spend all the time I can in the spring sunshine and simply will the plants to start growing aboveground once again! Soon, this eagerness, tempered by many months of patience, will be rewarded.
