10 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY 15, 2014 v After three hours of questions from the Cook County North Shore Hospital Board to Administrator Kimber Wraalstad, the board asked Wraalstad to enter into negations with DSGW architects to draw plans for a remodel and renovation of the 16-bed hospital critical access hospital and 37-bed skilled nursing care center. v Money from two grants and $34,000 in donations will allow the Cook County Historical Society (CCHS) to accomplish several items on their wish list, said CCHS Director Carrie McHugh to the Cook County Commissioners on January 28, 2014 at the commissioners regular board meeting.

School Board Meeting The School Board of I.S.D. 166 will meet for a Regular School Board Meeting Thursday, February 22nd, 2024 at 5:00 pm, in the Jane Mianowski Conference Center, 101 West 5th Street, Grand Marais, MN.

Warm winter causes temporary road, trail closures

Unusually mild weather in February is impacting road and trail conditions in several parts of the state, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Several roads and motorized trails in state forests, state parks, recreation areas, and wildlife management areas are likely to close earlier than usual because they’re too soft and muddy to support vehicle traffic without causing damage, and some have closed already.

The wolf is coming I suppose there are logically two ways to work the woods. One is where you hike forward for your allotted distance or time or to your goal, and, turning 180°, come out on your own track, your own trail, the path you just traversed.
