Grand Marais Film Society gets organized for a film season

The Grand Marais Film Society is getting ready for its second showing, November 12th at 3 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts - and are looking forward to announcing the dates for their full film season, which they plan to run October through April. November’s film features a beautiful princess, a giant, and a dread pirate.

November 4th weekend was Readers’ and Writers’ Festival. It reflects much of what makes the North Shore a special place for Myrna, Joanne, and me and all who live here.

Beaver: History

The beaver is a common and widely distributed mammal which has attracted the interest of many people, even if they have never seen one. They are mostly known for cutting down numerous trees and shrubs for building and maintaining their dams and lodges, as well as for their own food during the summer and storing an additional amount to eat during winter.

Hunters, media and anyone interested in deer harvest data can find current deer harvest figures and harvest reports for past years on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ deer reports and statistics webpage (mndnr. gov/mammals/deer/management/ statistics.html). The page also features an interactive map and graph that visualizes the data.
