20 YEARS AGO AUGUST 22, 2003 v City councilors unanimously gave their backing to a request for the creation of a “tax-free zone” in the Grand Marais Business Development Area that, if successful, will encourage new businesses to move into town. The proposal was put forth by John Kremer, director of the Joint Cook County/Grand Marais Economic Development Authority.

Hungry Hippie Tacos expands to Duluth, Minnesota

Hungry Hippie Tacos and Hungry Hippie Hostel located in Grand Marais, has expanded to Duluth, Minnesota. “We celebrated our one-year anniversary this summer season at our new Duluth Hungry Hippie Tacos location, and we couldn’t be happier,” said co-owner Kate Keeble, who along with her husband Jeremy own the businesses.

Ball Club road closure and detour scheduled to start August 28

The bridge over Junco Creek on CR 27/Ball Club Rd is scheduled for replacement starting on Monday, August 28, the Cook County Highway Department announced today. The work will require road closure at approximately 2.0 miles north of the intersection with CSAH 8/Devil Track Rd and approximately 2.0 miles south of the intersection with FS170/The Grade.
