Leslie Jerome Donek of Grand Marais, Minnesota, passed away peacefully with family by his side at North Shore Health on May 25, 2025 at 10:40 or 10-4 in trucker talk. What joy in heaven when he was reunited with Sheila.
Arlene Charmae Shilts passed away May 27, 2025, at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN at the age of 89 years old.
The Heights, Bluffs formally broke ground today on construction of a 36-unit multi-family rental housing building. The Heights will offer Studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units ranging in size from 427 to 840 sq. ft. The Heights is a three-story building, with an elevator, constructed with modular components.

You can thank the Garden Club Team, lead by Linda Quick and Gan Mesenbring, who came prepared to help beautify our lovely city by doing the annual filling of the planters with colorful flowers. Our local community members, as well as our summer visitors, are sure to enjoy them right into fall!

Wayne Hensche, age 76, of Grand Marais, MN. passed away on November 24, 2024. He was born September 16, 1948, to Ernest and Gertrude Hensche, of a farm family in southern Minnesota. Early years were in a one room schoolhouse, pitching hay bales with cousins and siblings on neighboring dairy farms, savoring homemade bread, glazed dinner rolls, and apple smoked sausage.
